New-look Latics stroll

Oldham fielded eight trialists during their 2-0 friendly win at Barrow in manager Paul Dickov's first game in charge. Trialist Scott McLaughlin and Lewis Alessandro scored a goal in each half to secure the Latics a comfortable win in their opening pre-season friendly. Midfielder McLaughlin lit up a poor first period when he curled home a brilliant 30-yard shot three minutes before half-time. Philip McGrath made a fine break down the left and Barrow goalkeeper Tim Deasy could only palm his cross into the path of Alessandro, who steered home the game clinching goal into an empty net midway through the second half.
