Latics spared fine

Brown takes the brunt

The Latics have been spared a £2,500 fine from the Football Association for an accumulation of poor discipline on the pitch which had been levied.

The automatic penalty was rescinded after Cliff Byrne's successful appeal against his sending off at Portsmouth as it took the Latics back below the threshold.

The downside is that Connor Brown has been handed a three-match ban after Byrne's successful appeal for mistaken identity as he was the culprit in the altercation.
