Latics boss pleased with progress

The Latics travel to Gillingham this weekend aiming to bounce back from last weekend's FA Cup exit at the hands of Leeds.

Penney, who took the helm at Boundary Park in the summer, senses his men are coming to terms with his philosophies on the game.

He told the club's official website: "You don't get given things in football, you have to earn them and I think my players are starting to show that mentality.

"Nothing comes overnight, you have to work for it and we're happy that we're going about things in the right way."
