Latics boss pleased with progress
Latics secured their second clean sheet of summer at Gigg Lane on Saturday and seven players completed the full 90 minutes.
Penney told the club's official website: "We looked comfortable and in control but lack an end product.
"But I thought we were the better side and it was a game we could have won.
"Clean sheets are always welcome and the work ethic, especially closing down the opposition, was good."
