Latics allow defender to leave
The 29-year-old was scheduled to meet manager Dave Penney on Thursday morning but failed to arrive for the talks.
As a result, after discussions with the player's agent, Penney has opted not to offer Stam a new deal at Boundary Park.
Stam, who made in excess of 100 appearances for the Latics, is the ninth player to leave Oldham since Penney's appointment, following the likes of Sean Gregan and Kevin Maher out of the exit door.
