The 21-year-old left-back's two-month loan deal ended after Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Tranmere and Royle has decided against extending the deal. "Full-back is not a hot-spot for us at the momement - we are well covered with a number of players able to play there," Royle told the club's official website. "Scott obviously has promise and I liked what I saw, but Daniel Jones is doing well enough to keep hold of the shirt at the moment." Royle has had a busy first week in his second spell as Latics manager with Golbourne's return to Reading coming on the back of Chelsea winger Fabio Ferreira extending his loan deal on Monday. Shane Supple and Ian Westlake arrived on loan last week, while Jan Budtz, Seb Hines and Dean Windass all returned to their parent clubs.
