Athletic have been drawn a plum tie in the third round of the FA Cup if they can see off Southend in next weeks replay at Boundary Park. They have been drawn away at Anfield to take on the mighty Liverpool in a match which will take place on 7th January 2012.
They need little encouragement to go out and finish off the Shrimpers in what will be the biggest game since they were last in the third round of the FA Cup. On that occasion they also travelled to Liverpool to take on Everton in 2008 and they produced the shock of the round by coming away with a 1-0 success after a Gary McDonald strike sunk the Toffees in front of over 33,000 spectators.
