Edwards seals Stanley fightback

The Latics have not won at home since February and they threw away a strong position after Danny Whitaker's early strike.[LNB]Only 10 minutes had gone when Whitaker brought down Pawel Abbott's right-wing cross and lashed into the roof of the net from 12 yards, while the hosts wasted further chances to extend their lead.[LNB]Accrington, however, took control after the break and sub Jimmy Ryan drew a fine save from Dean Brill before Michael Symes broke down the left and saw his near-post cross sliced into his own goal by home skipper Sean Gregan.[LNB]The goal was soon followed by Accrington's 66th minute winner as they worked a set-piece routine that allowed Phil Edwards to drill into the bottom corner from 14 yards.[LNB]Oldham missed chances to equalise when visiting keeper Ian Dunbavin denied Alan Sheehan a debut goal and Ryan Brooke grazed the woodwork, while Accrington's joy was tempered in the closing minutes when Ryan was carried off with a serious injury.[LNB][LNB]
