Dickov salutes battling Latics

Oldham boss Paul Dickov was delighted with the response of his side as they battled out a 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday following Saturday's last-gasp defeat at Brighton. Wednesday had the majority of possession and even had two strong penalty claims turned down by the referee but Dickov was still pleased with his team's efforts. He said: "I thought we played ever so well and to bounce back and keep a clean sheet after the disappointment of Saturday was important. "I can't speak highly enough of the players who gave us everything at the weekend only to lose in the 96th minute, and knowing they have had a seven-hour journey back on Saturday with just Sunday to recover before returning to training on Monday. "I wasn't looking too much into Wednesday's previous results as I know what it is like, and I knew that Alan would have his team up for it, and they were but we handled it well. "I thought we passed the ball well at times and to be honest, I'm a little bit disappointed not to have won the game without having created too many chances. It's fair to say we lacked a little bit in the last third as in our decision making and had we made some better decisions on two or three occasions, we might have had more shots on goal."
