Dickov rightly disappointed

Unwanted record looms Latics boss Paul Dickov was rightly disappointed as his team failed to hit the net in six league games, a feat which equalled the all time goal-less streak for the club. He vowed that he would put things right and said, “We haven't become a bad side overnight and have essentially the same group of players who were flying at the start of the season. We aren't doing the basics at the moment and are a bit short on confidence, but we will get them back to how we were playing. We have 12 games left and we will keep going and I won't allow the players to take their foot off the pedal. Regardless of what position we are in, and how many points we have, if these players want a career in football they are going to have to show me passion.”“We spoke before the game and at half time about defending set-pieces and the first goal we conceded was a free header. The second was a long ball through the centre of our defence and the third was from a long throw which was flicked on.” The Latics next take on Sheffield Wednesday, another struggling team, at Boundary Park on Tuesday when they hope to put things right.
