first win in 76 years delights manager Latics manager Paul Dickov was delighted with they way that his team fought back to record their first ever league win at Brentford. In the 76 years since they first visited Griffin Park it is the first time that they have returned with a league victory. Dickov said, "I was delighted with our performance and I thought we played ever so well, especially in the second half. We made the worst possible start conceding a silly goal so early, but you have to give the lads credit because this is a really hard place to come to and pick up a win. Brentford have beaten Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton and Everton here so I am delighted to have won 3-1 after going a goal down. To come away and score three goals at any time and at any level is a fantastic achievement." With Sean Gregan dropping down in the defending pecking order at Boundary Park, stand in captain Dale Stephens commented, "It was a really good team performance. We have been playing well, but may be needed a bit of luck along the way. And we made our own luck by scoring three goals. We have been creating chances in recent matches which is important, but have to start taking them as we did against Brentford. There has also been complacency as we have conceded too many goals from set pieces. Once we cut them out hopefully we will move forward. It is when things are tough that you see the real men out there, and that is when the team needs leadership." Dickov also had encouraging words to say about a recently returned to form Chris Taylor when he said, “He was great and was a threat. Chris is getting back to the form which he showed two seasons ago. He scored a great goal, won a penalty and he and Oumare Tounkara were a right handful for their defence. Every time the ball went up to the two of them, it looked like we might score.” To conclude a complimentary afternoon, praise was also heaped on new loan signing Cedric Evina who made his debut for the Latics at Brentford, which was also his full league debut. Dickov described his performance as 'a baptism of fire' and enthused, "Brentford had two wingers (Myles Weston and Lewis Grabban) who are good players and a big threat. Kieran Lee and Cedric, who was making his debut, were fantastic for us. I thought Cedric was excellent for an 18-year-old kid coming in for his first-ever game. He has great energy, defended well and I thought it was a fantastic debut."
