Dickov hails Latics attitude

Oldham boss Paul Dickov hailed the attitude of his players after beginning his managerial career with a 2-0 friendly win at Barrow. Scott McLaughlin and Lewis Alessandra were on the scoresheet but Dickov is more focused on the fitness of his players than the results obtained during pre-season. Dickov knows there is plenty more work to be done ahead of the npower League One opener at Tranmere on August 7, but he is pleased with the early signs he has seen from his team. Dickov told the club's official website: "I have played in teams which have won every game pre-season and then started the season badly and I have also featured in sides which have lost every game and then started the season well. "The result wasn't the all-important thing which in the next few games is for the lads to work on their fitness and take on board what we have been telling them in the last two weeks. "Believe me they have worked hard in the last two weeks and I am delighted with the attitude they showed against Barrow, though there are still lots of things to work on. Overall I cannot complain with a 2-0 victory."
