Dickov backs right decision

Oldham boss Paul Dickov had no complaints with the decision to abandon his side`s derby clash with Rochdale, but questioned the timing of it. The Spotland clash lasted only eight minutes with the scoreline goalless before referee Tony Bates deemed the pitch unplayable after incessant rain. "Obviously we are disappointed, but it was the right decision at the wrong time," Dickov told the club`s official website. "It was raining two hours before kick-off as it was when it was called off, but give the referee credit for wanting to start the game and see whether the rain eased off. "I can see the referee`s thinking but had the decision been taken earlier, it would have saved the fans a journey and I am sorry for them because they came wanting to see a victory."
