Byfield impresses during draw
The Latics went in at half-time with a 1-0 lead after Chris Taylor had opened the scoring in the sixth minute, but Boro equalised just after the restart through a free header from Rhys Williams.
Middlesbrough then took the lead through defender Robert Huth, only for the Latics to hit back through substitute Keigan Parker, who scored with an audacious 35-yard free-kick.
Byfield impressed and will be hoping his efforts are enough for manager Dave Penney to offer him a deal as he continues his search for a new club for the upcoming season.
