Butler joins backroom staff

Chief scout relishing the challenge Former Rochdale, Bury, Sunderland, Wolves and Leeds defender Paul Butler has joined the Latics' backroom team as chief scout. Butler (37) was once capped once by Eire at full international level and, since retiring from playing, has been scouting on a part-time basis for Sheffield United, Cardiff and Stoke.Butler is relishing the challenge ahead and said, "I will be using my contacts at clubs in the Premier League and top end of the Championship to ask for the best kids as we try to build a younger squad which the manager wants.” Simon Corney added, “This adds another layer to Paul Dickov's management team as we bid to build a good environment here.”
