Boxing Day clash off
weather hits Latics again Athletic have once again suffered at the hands of the current cold snap as their Boxing Day game with Carlisle United at Boundary Park has been called off. Local referee Steve Race, who also called off the Swindon game, confirmed the postponement after a Friday morning pitch inspection. He decided that there would be no chance that the pitch would be thawed in time for the match.Mr. Race said, “Though most of the snow has been removed from the pitch, the frost has been so severe that it has penetrated the covers and is deep in the ground. There is no way the surface would be safe to play on.”
