Bembo-Leta goes under the knife

Rookie Oldham striker Djeny Bembo-Leta has had surgery to remove scar tissue from his injured ankle. Surgeon Tim Clough opened the joint to make sure the damaged ligaments and slight dislocation were healing. Bembo-Leta also sustained a break to his fibula following the training-ground accident and Latics physio Marc Czuczman said: "When the ankle was opened, a big clump of scar tissue was found inside the joint so Mr Clough removed it. "The operation was a success and will not add extra time to his recovery time." By acting now, the Latics have prevented the problem becoming worsening as an operation at a later date would have meant an even lengthier spell on the sidelines.
