Johnson - "it came to a point when we needed to do what was right for the club"

Jose Baxter has signed a three-year contract at Sheffield United and made his debut for them last Saturday in the 1-0 reverse at home to Franchise FC. Baxter joined Athletic after rejecting a new two-year contract with Everton. He played 50 first-team games and scored 17 goals.

Lee Johnson said of Baxter, "I love Jose as a player and person, but it came to a point when we needed to do what was right for the club. If we sold Jose and were able to bring in two or three players and pocket some money it has to be good business. In an ideal world you would like to keep all your top players, but realistically we would need 10,000 crowds and to be playing the Championship and with our new stand completed to do that."
