Another loss at Leeds

Latics slip back into relegation spot The Latics' continued their losing run with a 2-0 defeat at title-chasing Leeds United in a performance that is better forgotten. Latics boss Dave Penney commented, "We were well beaten and we didn't turn up. There were six or seven players who did not perform. We did enough defensively but you need to create chances to get something out of the game. We did not have enough going forward which is the reason why we were beaten. We contained and frustrated Leeds in the first half, but we did not do enough going forward when we had the ball. We didn't perform as we did on Saturday when I could live with a 1-0 defeat at Colchester the way we played. We didn't perform against Leeds and deserved to be beaten." The loss plummeted the Latics back into the relegation zone and the faithful few are getting more and more despondent with the lack of attacking flair displayed by the current Latics team. Penney admitted that he could live with a 1-0 defeat at Colchester, an opinion not shared by most Oldham supporters; especially those that made the long trip to Colchester.
