Midfielder Mu Kanazaki looks set to become the next Japan player to ply his trade in the Bundesliga with the 23-year-old on the verge of signing for Nuremberg, according to reports.

Nuremberg's director of sport Martin Bader confirmed to German magazine Kicker that negotiations are taking place.

The attacking midfielder, who made the last of his five appearances for Japan in 2010, is set to join the Bundesliga strugglers from J-League side Nagoya Grampus with the transfer window set to close on Thursday at midnight.

Kunazaki would be the club's second Japanese player with Hiroshi Kiyotake having scored three goals in 18 league appearances for Nuremberg so far this season.
