Murphy handed new deal

Striker Gez Murphy has agreed a new two-year contract with Nuneaton Borough as Alan Lewer continues to strengthen his squad ahead of their assault on the Dr Martens Premier League.

The 26-year-old joined Boro on a non-contract basis in March after falling out with then Kettering Town boss Carl Shutt, and is delighted to have signed a permanent deal with the club.

"I spoke to Steve Burr before he left and Alan since he's taken over and as soon as they said they wanted me at the club I knew it wasn't going to be a problem," Murphy told the club's official website.

"I've moved to Nuneaton now and it is on the doorstep quite literally and with the quality of players Alan has brought into the club it is looking superb.

"Talking to Alan the worst thing that could happen is we could go into the Dr Martens League and not really do anything.

"But no-one wants that to happen and the club have set their stall out and made it clear they are going to have a go. I want to be a part of that and so do the other lads who've come in."
