Manager Steve Thompson has called for patience from Notts County supporters following an indifferent start to the new campaign.
The Magpies were knocked out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy by Leyton Orient on Monday night to add to their first round Carling Cup exit at the hands of Coventry City last month.
Meanwhile, Thompson's side have drawn their opening four League Two fixtures.
"We are developing a team and still deciding what is our best formation," urged Thompson.
"We are trying to do it the right way by playing good football but it is not happening for us in the box.
"We are playing a lot of good stuff but the finishing is lacking."
