Notts County could be facing a challenge from the Swedish Football Association to keep hold of director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson.
The 61-year-old Swede has never managed his national team and is believed to be wanted to fill the void created by Lars Lagerback's recent departure.
Lagerback stepped down after Sweden missed out on qualification for the 2010 World Cup.
Eriksson was named director of football at the ambitious League Two club in July and is currently heading up their recruitment of a new manager.
"I am a friend of Svennis and know how good a manager he is," Swedish Football Association president Lars-Ake Lagrell told BBC Sport.
"We'll have a telephone conversation on Wednesday, then I hope to know more."
Eriksson spent five years in international management with England where he took the Three Lions to the quarter-finals of the 2002 and 2006 World Cups plus the last eight at Euro 2004.
