Short upbeat despite defeat

Notts County manager Craig Short believes his side are on the right track despite defeat at Charlton.Joe Anyinsah pounced in the 85th minute to clinch all three points, although Notts County had chances to take something from the game and even missed a penalty at 0-0 through Lee Hughes.Short said: "I'm really disappointed but I'm pleased with the way we've turned around the way we've been playing."We are playing with confidence coming to a team who I'm sure are going to be in the top six come the end of the season. All of the players now seem to have adapted to this level because we got a bit of a shock at the start of the season against Huddersfield and Oldham."I've seen the signs in the past couple of weeks, even getting beaten by Sheffield Wednesday in the Johnstone's Paint where we played very well after conceding early goals. The players are devastated and are close to tears some of them, but if we perform like that and keep our confidence levels and energy, we will be okay."Lee Hughes will be disappointed. It was a team effort getting promotion last year obviously, but he got 30 goals. I played against Lee years ago and he is proven over the years. Probably next week he will go and score two for us."
