Picken eyes Magpies chance

Notts County have announced the loan signing of defender Phil Picken from Chesterfield.

Twenty-three-year-old defender Picken is expected to line up against Exeter this weekend as County boss Ian McParland suffers from a lack of options at the back.

The former Manchester United trainee has been a regular for Chesterfield of late, but was quick to sign up with the Magpies once he spoke to McParland on Wednesday.

Picken said: "I'll be looking to make the right-back spot my own in this month and take it from there.

"I'm not sure what the future holds in terms of whether a move away from Chesterfield permanently is on the cards, so we'll just have to see what happens and take it from there."
