Notts County have named former player Craig Short as their new manager following Steve Cotterill's decision to leave the newly-promoted Magpies last month.
The ex-defender, who has signed a three-year contract at Meadow Lane, played in more than 120 games for Notts between 1989 and 1992.
Short, who finished his playing career at Sheffield United three years ago and spent last season in charge of Hungarian side Ferencvaros, told the club's official website: "I'm a little bit shocked to be honest, having seen some of the names that have been linked with the job.
"It's still sinking in a little bit. A lot's changed since I was last at Meadow Lane, but I'm delighted that the chairman is prepared to give a hungry young manager a chance and I feel that I have shown the desire to succeed here.
"If I can enjoy half as much success here as a manager as I did as a player, it's going to be a fantastic time for myself and the club."
