Notts deal would suit Picken

Former Manchester United trainee Phil Picken would welcome the chance to pen a permanent deal with Notts County.

The 23-year-old Chesterfield right-back is currently on loan at Meadow Lane and has impressed in his 16 appearances for Notts.

Although under contract at Saltergate until next year, Picken would prefer to commit his future to the Magpies.

He said: "I hope I'm here next season but I don't know what's happening at the moment. There are quite a few of the lads out of contract at the end of the season and they don't know what's going on either.

"Hopefully I've earned myself a contract. I haven't spoken to Chesterfield about it but I want to get my future sorted out.

"It's not too bad because I've got another year there. But it would be nice to sort out where I'm going to be playing next year.

"I want to stay here because I think the club has a serious chance of making the play-offs."
