Notts County boss Gary Mills is keen to tie up a deal to sign loanee David Pipe on a permanent basis before the end of the season.
Pipe followed Mills to Meadow Lane from Coventry City almost three months ago and has since established himself as a key figure in the Magpies team.
The Welsh international's loan spell is due to end next week and the County manager wants to push the permanent deal through now so that he will be available for the rest of the season.
Mills told the Nottingham Evening Post: "I am hopeful that something can be resolved.
"I am obviously very keen to agree a deal to bring David here permanently, because he is a quality player.
"He has done well for us and it would leave a significant hole if he were to go back.
"We will be offering him a good contract and the chance to play somewhere where he is very much wanted."
