Martin impresses Magpies boss

Notts County manager Steve Thompson has told midfielder Dan Martin that he is close to earning a return to the Magpies starting line-up.

The 20-year-old has not started a game since late October, having been a regular in the early part of the campaign, but Thompson is impressed by Martin's attitude in training.

He told the club's official website: "I understand Dan's frustrations.

"However, Dan has worked hard on his fitness and he is coming back into consideration."

Martin had started the season in fine form, netting four goals in his first games games.
