Magpies hoping for double delight

The pair, a defender and a midfielder, held talks with Magpies manager Ian McParland on Thursday. While McParland hopes both players will ultimately decide to take up his offer, the Scot admits he is optimistic of landing at least one signature. "We've made good offers to the players concerned and they've gone away to think about what we've put in front of them," McParland told the club's official website. "I am very confident on one of them, the other I think would have snapped our hands off had we been in a higher league but hopefully we have been able to persuade him. "They would be very exciting signings for us and I hope our hard work pays off. "The meetings were very positive and I think if we can get them in their quality would certainly help us attract a couple more players to join us."
