Notts County boss Gary Mills has revealed that he is close to sealing a deal to sign Peterborough United midfielder Matt Gill.
The 23-year-old has made over 160 appearances for the Posh but is now available on a free transfer after the club agreed to his request to have his contract cancelled.
Mills is confident that Gill has plenty to offer in Division Three next season and is delighted that he has verbally agreed to join County.
"Matthew is a player we have had our eye on for a while and, provided he passes his medical, he will be a good signing for us," Mills told the Evening Post.
"He is very versatile. He can play in midfield or at full-back, although we have brought him here predominantly as a central midfielder.
"He does have the ability to make an impact but, most importantly, he also has a really good attitude.
"He has the right determination and character that we want here. He was offered a contract by Peterborough but turned it down to come here."
The Magpies have already completed the signing of Derby's Chris Palmer and are also close to completing a deal to take Sheffield United's veteran defender Mike Whitlow to Meadow Lane.
