Ince hoping for Hughes impact
Notts County boss Paul Ince has backed Lee Hughes to terrorise defences again once the striker regains full fitness.Hughes continues to be plagued by a hip problem that has restricted him to just nine league starts this season. The 34-year-old scored his first goal in almost two months at Exeter at the weekend but Ince wants to get him fitter and sharper.Ince is confident Notts can manage the injury and ensure Hughes recaptures his prolific form of last season when he scored 30 goals in 39 league games to fire the club to the League Two title."He is doing well and he is a very good player, but we can get him fitter," said Ince, who has been in charge for two league matches. "He has had a stop-start season but if we can get him a lot sharper and a lot fitter we know what a handful he is for defenders and he will score goals."He has got a bit of trouble with his hip, but he is back training for most of the week now. If we can get a fit and sharp Hughesy, he is a very big player for us."
