Notts County have named Mike Edwards as their new club captain, but veteran striker Jason Lee will retain the skipper's armband on the pitch.
Magpies boss Steve Thompson has decided to ease the burden on the 36-year-old marksman, who will also take on a more active role in his backroom staff during the coming season.
"With Jason getting involved in a bit of coaching, we felt it was time to hand the mantle over," he told the club's official website.
"Last year, Jason was team captain, club captain and had every other job except marking the pitch out!"
Edwards, 27, was voted the club's player of the year last season.
