Notts County have completed the permanent signing of Southend United midfielder Jay Smith following his successful loan spell at Meadow Lane.

The 25-year-old has spent the last two months at Meadow Lane and made 11 appearances for the club.

He scored his first goal for County in last weekend's 5-2 victory against Torquay United.

Smith spent four years at Roots Hall, making 62 appearances for the Shrimpers.
