Notts County manager Ian McParland has strengthened his squad by snapping up the former Preston North End midfielder Adam Nowland.
The 26-year-old was released by the Championship side in January and played for Lancaster City in the final few weeks of last season.
A delighted McParland told Notts' official website: "I've watched Adam a lot over the years, from his time at MK Dons and West Ham and also worked alongside him at Nottingham Forest, so I know what he's all about.
"He's an accomplished central midfielder who's not afraid to get on the ball, dictate play and nick the odd goal.
"I'm confident he can do a good job for us and he'll help freshen up the squad and provide real competition for places."
McParland has already signed veteran defender Michael Johnson and striker Jamie Forrester this summer, while Michael Edwards and Kevin Pilkington have penned new Meadow Lane deals.
