Charge for Thompson

The Football Association have charged Notts County manager Steve Thompson with using "abusive and or insulting words towards a match official".

The Magpies boss has already fined himself and captain Alan White who was sent off in the game, but Matt Somner, who was also dismissed, will not be punished.

"I will fine both myself and Whitey for ill-discipline," confirmed Thompson.

After the controversial game, Thompson said of referee Danny McDermid: "I was incensed by him from the very first whistle.

"The referee should have a good look in the mirror and decide if he is a referee or if he should be at a kindergarten party.

"It is the worst refereeing I have seen in 30 years of professional football.

"I am gutted for the way one official can spoil a football match. I have got myself in enough trouble so I might as well get the electric chair.

"That referee is not from the same planet as me."
