Canham enjoys Magpies role

Striker Sean Canham is happy to have made a promising start to his Notts County career, having scored his first goal in the 1-1 draw at Accrington Stanley.

The 23-year-old former Exeter City forward earned a chance to impress in the league thanks to a successful spell with Team Bath and Canham is determined to make the most of the opportunity.

He told the Evening Post: "I had three good years down there and got 85 goals for Team Bath and it has been a nice step up.

"I have been waiting for it a long time, since I left Exeter. I have bided my time, getting up to match pace.

"All the defenders are much quicker, stronger, read the game better in League Two. The passing is sharper.

"The whole package is better and I am working on my strength in the week and my fitness and getting up to the pace of the game.

"My first start will come in due time and when the time comes, I will be ready."
