Notts County boss Steve Thompson has handed a permanent contract to central defender Michael Byron who spent a period on loan at Meadow Lane last term.
The 20-year-old made three appearances for the Magpies during a loan switch from Hull City and was set to make the move permanent until suffering a knee injury in the final game of last season at Macclesfield Town.
He has now signed for County until the end of the campaign and Thompson is delighted to finally secure the youngster's signature.
"It's been a difficult few months for Michael but we rate him very highly and want to give him every opportunity to get his career back on the rails," he told the club's official website.
"The deal takes him until the end of the season but, if Michael can get himself fit and back to where he was, he knows we'll be happy to extend it."
