Trembling: Munto left County in mire

On the eve of County's biggest cup game in almost two decades, Trembling has voiced his anger at the Swiss-based Middle East consortium for failing to deliver on their ambitious plans for the League Two club, who face Fulham in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday.[LNB]Munto Finance arrived at Meadow Lane last summer in a blaze of glory and promising the level of investment that would propel the world's oldest Football League club to the Premier League within five years.[LNB]The appointment of former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson as director of football signalled their intent and high profile signings such as Sol Campbell and Kasper Schmeichel soon arrived.[LNB]However, once the initial excitement and hype surrounding the takeover had died down holes soon appeared in their plans.[LNB]By December Munto Finance had effectively pulled out their investment, forcing Trembling to complete a management buy-out until a long-term buyer could be found.[LNB]The club is saddled with debts of around £1.5million and are due back in the High Court on February 24 to face a winding-up petition from HM Revenue and Customs for an unpaid tax bill.[LNB]Former manager Ian McParland, Nottingham Rugby Club and League Two rivals Burton Albion are also thought to be owed money.[LNB]Trembling had remained quiet over Munto Finance's decision-making process but has now hit out after he sold his majority shareholding to a consortium led by former Lincoln chairman Ray Trew on Thursday.[LNB]"I'm angry. I'm more angry than anybody and it is Munto's fault. They left us in a huge hole," Trembling told Sky Sports News.[LNB]"I came in as a representative, as their chairman and on the back of the fact that they were going to put a huge amount of funds into this club, and they didn't.[LNB]"To the point where I put money in myself and I probably lost a proportion of that money as well, so I'm incredibly angry.[LNB]"Now that I've left the club in good hands it's time to take recourse against that, against Munto, and I will be doing so.[LNB]"The reason I did the management buy-out was to find somebody to invest in this football club and to safeguard its future. That's happened now.[LNB]"I've not been vocal about what I've thought about Munto and what's happened as a result of that, but now I will be doing so. I want to tell my side of the story."[LNB]Trembling said he would be taking action regarding the money owed to him and "the way they left me and the club in the mire".[LNB]On Sunday, Notts County will attempt to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 1991 and Trembling plans to be at Craven Cottage to publicly say his goodbyes to the club and its supporters.[LNB]He added: "It will be a sad day for me but I will be there and I can think of no better stage than an FA Cup fifth-round tie against Premier League opposition to say my farewells."[LNB][LNB]
