New signing Kevin Smith is relishing the prospect of trying to force his way into Notts County`s starting line-up. The 23-year-old striker has signed a one-year deal at Meadow Lane after a successful trial. He becomes one of five strikers at the club, alongside Lee Hughes, who scored 33 goals last season, Ben Burgess, Karl Hawley and Luke Rodgers, who is currently sidelined after an ankle operation. "They are all good players. I look up to players who have done it at every level and Hughes has certainly done that. Hopefully I can play alongside him," said Smith. "I`m looking forward to it. The club is on a high after winning the (League Two) title last season and there is a buzz among the players and coaches. "I've got to earn a place in the team now I'm here. When I do get a chance I have got to take it."
