Rae backs postponement

Notts County assistant manager Alex Rae backed the postponement of Saturday`s FA Cup second-round clash at home to Bournemouth, but admitted the decision may have been made a little earlier. County groundstaff placed frost covers over the pitch and were at Meadow Lane early on the morning of the game in an attempt to remove snow and ensure it got the go-ahead. Referee Neil Swarbrick gave the playing surface the green light at 11am but, upon another inspection approaching as late as 2pm, decided it was not fit for purpose. And Rae told Magpie Player: "I think it`s probably the right decision for the players` safety. "He (Swarbrick) gave it as long as possible, with the people coming from Bournemouth it could have been a case of calling it off a little bit earlier. "You can manage to put your key into it but it wouldn`t take a stud at all."
