Pearce poised for County challenge

Notts County newcomer Krystian Pearce is determined to make his mark at Meadow Lane. The former England youth defender has penned a one-year deal which will be extended next summer depending on appearances. The likes of Graeme Lee, Mike Edwards and Liam Chilvers mean Pearce will have his work cut out to establish himself at the heart of the Magpies defence, but he is relishing the challenge. "I'm very happy the deal has been done and my aim is to break into the team," he told the Nottingham Post. "Notts was always my first choice. There were lower league teams that wanted to sign me, and two League One clubs wanted me on trial. "The ambition of the club matches mine. I'm happy to be at a club where I am wanted. "I would have liked a longer contract but the club want to see me play regularly. If I break into the team and play a few games then they will offer me a new deal."
