Duo put pen to paper at Meadow Lane. Notts County have today confirmed the signings of former trialists Kevin Smith and Matt Marshall, who have signed one-year and six-month deals at Meadow Lane respectively. The duo have been on trial at Meadow Lane recently and both appeared in the 0-0 friendly draw with Stoke City, with Smith particularly impressing upfront. 23 year-old Scottish striker Smith joins on a free transfer from Dundee United, although he has rarely figured for their first team, but has impressed by rattling in the goals during loan spells at Raith Rovers. He came through the youth system at Leeds United and will be hoping to impress on his return to the English game. 18 year-old central midfielder Marshall has signed from Spanish second division side Elche and is regarded as one for the future. He was invited for a trial at Meadow Lane after being spotted by a Notts scout and impressed Craig Short enough to earn a six-month deal, which he will be hoping can become a longer contract with the club.
