Mark Cooper plans changes after recent 'let-downs'

Notts County manager Mark Cooper feels let down by his players and is considering giving some of the club's youngsters a chance to shine against Cambridge.

The Magpies followed up last weekend's embarrassing 5-0 derby defeat to Mansfield with another below-par performance in a 3-1 loss at Barnet and Cooper is losing patience with his senior professionals.

"I might just throw the kids in. Why not?" said Cooper. "They will be proud to play for Notts County. At the moment no matter what players I use they keep letting us down, so maybe that's the way to go."

Montel Gibson was recently handed his debut by Cooper and has featured in the last three matches so he could be in line for his full debut against the U's, while fellow teenagers Lartey Sarpong and Luther Wildin might also get a chance to impress.

Cambridge are expected to name an unchanged squad following Tuesday's 7-0 thrashing of Morecambe.

United are aiming to sneak into the play-off places and were boosted by the return, to the bench, of midfielder Ryan Donaldson against Morecambe.

Ryan Haynes and Leon Legge (both leg) are out.

Forward Barry Corr (knee), defender Greg Taylor (ankle) and midfielder Conor Newton (back/hamstring) are all out for the rest of the campaign.
