Haynes has a chance for Magpies

Notts County boss Shaun Derry will select from an unchanged squad against Bristol City, unless Danny Haynes is deemed fit enough to return to contention.

Haynes has been absent with tonsilitis but he resumed training on Thursday and will be assessed again on Friday. Fellow striker Marcus Haber has returned to parent club Stevenage after his loan spell at Meadow Lane expired.

Defenders Manny Smith and Haydn Hollis, midfielders David Bell and Mark Fotheringham and strikers Enoch Showunmi and Ronan Murray all started on the bench against Colchester last weekend and may remain there on Saturday if Derry picks the same team which won 4-0 in Essex.

Mustapha Dumbuya is nearing a return from a thigh injury and the defender could return to action before the new year.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill will be without Stephen McLaughlin when they travel to his former club.

The winger has returned to parent club Nottingham Forest after picking up a knee injury and will miss out for the rock-bottom Robins.

Striker Ryan Taylor will hope for a recall after the former Rotherham striker was replaced in the starting line-up by Simon Gillett against his former club last weekend.

Marlon Harewood and Bobby Reid both pushed their cases for inclusion with goals in the Gloucestershire Senior Challenge Cup victory over Cinderford Town on Wednesday.
