Ten-man Magpies progress

There proved to be no upset at Meadow Lane as Notts County scrapped past Fleetwood 3-2 despite finishing the game with 10 men.

The underdogs took the lead on 16 minutes when a mistake by Manny Smith let in Fleetwood's Gareth Evans who planted a delicious chip over a stranded Bartosz Bialkowski.

Notts County hit back in the 28th minute when an inch-perfect cross by debutant Celtic loanee Callum McGregor was met with a superb bullet header by Enoch Showumni into the top corner.

The Sky Bet League One side then took the lead on 39 minutes when, after Joss Labadie's header hit the woodwork, Danny Haynes pounced for his first goal for the Magpies.

County extended their lead on 73 minutes when the impressive McGregor marked his debut with a goal after his deflected shot from 22 yards flew into the net.

After Smith received a second yellow card for a foul on David Ball on 84 minutes, County were left to sweat when Ball scored in the 88th minute but they just held on for the win.
