Magpies ease pressure on Kiwomya

Joss Labadie and Marcus Haber eased the pressure on Notts County boss Chris Kiwomya as his side climbed off the foot of the table with a 2-0 victory over Tranmere.

Labadie slotted home from close range against his former club after just seven minutes and Haber made it two-nil late on to give County their first league win of the season.

County chairman Ray Trew penned a 1,000-plus word statement in the build-up to the match, asking supporters to keep the faith following County's worst start to a season in 151 years - and his words of wisdom paid dividends.

Labadie, who played 70 matches for Rovers prior to leaving for Meadow Lane last year, opened the scoring when Danny Haynes headed Alan Sheehan's left-wing cross back across goal for the former West Brom trainee to nod home from close range.

Under fire boss Kiwomya saw his men ride their luck when Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro's header hit the bar in the 74th minute.

But the former Arsenal striker could breathe easy 12 minutes from time when Mustapha Dumbuya tormented the visitors down the right and laid the ball on for substitute Haber to seal the points from close range.
