Notts County 1-2 Rochdale: Match Report

05 April 2011 22:24
Magpies misery continues Paul Ince's departure from Notts County failed to arrest the struggling club`s slide as they slipped to a sixth successive defeat at home to play-off chasing Rochdale, going down 2-1. Caretaker boss Carl Heggs saw his side fall two goals behind within 15 minutes as Craig Dawson converted Nicky Adams' corner and then Will Atkinson headed in after a throw-in was unsuccessfully dealt with. The goals aside, Notts dominated the first half and Febian Brandy set up Craig Westcarr to hammer a shot off Owain fon Williams' left-hand post. Westcarr had another chance just before the break but, after setting himself up, fired over when well placed 10 yards out. Nine minutes into the second half, Notts pulled a goal back when John Thompson put the ball in, Graeme Lee helped it on and stand-in skipper Lee Hughes guided home from three yards out. Rochdale could have re-established their two-goal lead but for a good save by Stuart Nelson with his foot to deny Matt Done, while Gary Jones blasted over from a good position.
