Bajner rescues point for Magpies

Balint Bajner scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser as Notts County stretched their unbeaten run to five games with a 1-1 draw against Barnsley.

In Ricardo Moniz's first home game in charge since succeeding Shaun Derry, the Dutch coach watched as the Magpies started brightly with Gary Jones going close.

But a good start was undone by the brilliance of Sam Winnall in the ninth minute when the striker lashed in a terrific half-volley from the edge of the box.

Notts, still haunted by the prospect of relegation, responded strongly and they almost had themselves level when Jones cracked a shot off the inside of the post.

Winnall then hit the post himself as Roy Carroll brilliantly tipped his effort onto the woodwork before Conor Hourihane smashed wide.

It was the turn of the crossbar to keep Notts in the game early in the second half when Hourihane saw his deflected effort loop over Carroll and off the frame of the goal.

Notts kept plugging away for an equaliser with Paddy McCourt blazing over from seven yards before Bajner struck a low shot beyond Adam Davies from Will Hayhurst's cross.
