Carlisle crush Notts County as Mark Cooper exits Meadow Lane

Notts County's disappointing season ended with a 5-0 home trouncing by a rampant Carlisle and the Magpies are now without a manager as Mark Cooper's contract has expired.

Alex Gilliead, Danny Grainger and Jabo Ibehre scored in the first half for the Cumbrians, with the latter and substitute Charlie Wyke netting after the break.

It took just four minutes for Hallam Hope to set up Newcastle loanee Gilliead to finish at the near post.

The home side then held out until 28 minutes before Ibehre pulled the ball back for Grainger to score from 16 yards.

And it was 3-0 five minutes before the break when Haydn Hollis gave the ball to Gilliead, who found Jason Kennedy to his right.

The midfielder's low cross was stabbed in by Ibehre, who claimed goal number 17 of the season on 54 minutes by bundling in Hope's low cross.

And when Wyke latched onto Hollis' back-pass 10 minutes from time, he rounded goalkeeper Roy Carroll and rolled the ball into the empty net to compound the Magpies' misery.
